The 848 Group Earns Cyber Essentials Plus Certification

848 News Security

The 848 Group is delighted to announce it has earned the leading Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation.

Cyber Essentials is a proven Government backed scheme to guard organisations from cyber threats, endorsed by the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the IASME Consortium. Under the Cyber Essentials scheme, Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of accreditation available. Earning the award demonstrates our clear commitment and proactive approach to security, verified by an in depth and independent technical audit.

Committed to Cyber Security

The Cyber Essentials Plus Certification validates our advanced cyber security controls for keeping sensitive data, infrastructure, and business assets secure. Every customer, partner, or supplier we work with can be assured that any information shared with or handled by 848 is done so following industry and regulatory best practice. We take security seriously and work to ensure that data doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

Cyberattacks come in many forms, and hackers are continuously evolving their techniques, using sophisticated methods to target businesses big and small. Yet according to the NCSC, the majority of successful attacks are in fact basic in nature. Cyber Essentials outlines the core cyber security controls and measures that are designed to protect a business from these common types of attacks. In fact, by being Cyber Essentials Certified, you reduce your risk of a cyber attack by around 80%.

848 has been Cyber Essentials Certified for a number of years. Achieving the advanced certification proves a clear dedication to data protection and IT security. As a Cyber Essentials Plus Certified business, we are accredited to manage, process, and protect business critical information in line with leading security standards. It also ensures we are protected by cyber liability insurance.

A Holistic Approach to Security

At 848, we recognise that when organisations think of cyber security, they think of technology. While technology is a key part of an effective cyber security strategy, it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Your business is being targeted from every angle. People and processes create a range of additional cyber risks to your business, and should be addressed with as much precision as the technology aspect.

That’s why take a holistic approach to cyber security, considering how people, processes and technology may leave your business vulnerable to an attack. We design bespoke security strategies with these elements in mind, and implement security controls, policies and solutions that help to protect our clients’ organisations from all angles. Our Cyber Essentials Plus Certification validates our deep understanding of the threat landscape and use of leading security controls.

With a dedicated cyber security practice and an experienced team of complex security specialists, we can help you reduce human mistakes that may lead to a breach, improve processes to keep data secure, and deliver leading solutions that help to protect your critical infrastructure.

More About Cyber Essentials

The full Cyber Essentials Scheme was launched by the UK Government in June 2014. It was developed in collaboration with the Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises (IASME) and Information Security Forum (ISF). It’s also backed by industry networks including the Federation of Small Businesses, the CBI, and a number of insurance organisations. Nearly 10 years later, it is regarded as the most effective ways for organisations to protect their business from cyber attacks.

Organisations can achieve Cyber Essentials badges at two levels: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. The standard Cyber Essentials validates appropriate security controls and measures via self-assessment, while Cyber Essentials Plus requires an in depth and stringent technical audit carried out by an accredited third-party. All public sector organisations and many businesses require suppliers to earn the accreditation before they can bid for contracts.
