Samarathon 2022: Our Team is Taking Part to Raise Funds for Samaritans

848 News

Next week marks the beginning of Samarathon, an annual fundraising and awareness campaign from Samaritans. Every year during the month of July, Samaritans encourage people to walk, jog or run the equivalent of a marathon in the 31 days of July. The aim is to raise funds for the critical emotional support the charity provides.

A group of employees from the 848 Group are taking on this fundraising challenge and completing the 26.2 miles wherever and whenever they like. Samarathon is a great fundraising challenge as it fits around your life. You can take part however you like, and Samaritans encourage everyone to get creative and adapt the challenge to suit your own needs.

Here’s what the challenge means to some of our team who are taking part:

Holly Bagwell – “During July I will be walking, jogging and running the length of a marathon. (Let’s be honest, I’ll be walking!) Those who know me, know I am disabled and that this is not something I can easily do, but I am determined to complete this and raise as much money as I can in the process.

This is a cause close to my heart, and anything that can be done to prevent suicides and help people get into a better state of mind and wellbeing, is extremely important. Please sponsor me and donate to this great cause.”

Kay Daskalakis – “This July I am taking on Samarathon to help save lives and prevent suicide. Whether you donate £5 or £500, your donation means a lot to me and could answer the call for help that saves someone’s life.”

You can support Holly and Kay and the wider team from 848 taking on this challenge here.
