Now that we’ve ventured forth into 2019, we thought we’d create the opportunity to look back at 2018! Together we’ll review our top 4 moments of the year, as decided by our followers! We’ll also be sharing 8 of the things we are most excited about for the year to come.

1. It wasn’t raining on our parade in April;

“The Ricoh Sales Kick Off is an annual all-day event, uniting all staff, suppliers and partners in one location; Celtic Manor, Newport. The event is a fantastic opportunity to exhibit and showcase new technologies and offerings, meet with existing clients, greet new ones and generally mingle and network. All rounded off with a three-course meal, celebrity appearance (I met Rob Brydon! #FanGoals), and award ceremony.
It is here that 848’s expertise, commitment and dedication to Business Changing IT were recognised, receiving the Partner of the Year award for the second year running! We’re so excited to see what 2019 will bring to our partnership. And of course, we’re playing for a hat trick!” – Michelle Whittaker, Relationship Director.

2. Dan conquered Delhi!

“As part of my continual professional development I had the opportunity to visit New Delhi in India to work alongside Microsoft Training Partners and ascertain the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert certification.

This is a series of 5 technical exams so going away was a fantastic method of focusing on training up my skills on new technologies without having to worry about a busy diary.

I made a video for our Social Media, it was Ad-Hoc and at one point a scooter bumped into me! It just showed the hustle and bustle of the city!

Since ascertaining my MCSE I’ve managed to help new clients with their Microsoft Requirements and being certified means I can confidently move into more traditional sectors such as Finance knowing I’m introducing best practice.

I’m currently working with an international airport group, introducing new authentication infrastructure for the cloud, something I’ve drawn heavily on the skills learned whilst away.” – Dan Porter, Solution Architect.

3. We gained further industry status;

“Our Microsoft Competencies helps us show and validate our skills and abilities. In working towards them we are developing the technicality of the team through training courses, online media or traditional text books, and then validating their newly acquired skills through completing assessments and exams. Then maintaining these skills as the requirements for the competencies are updated to reflect new technologies and features.” – James Saunders, Director of Consultancy.

4. Tim painted the Big Apple red;

“Having been virtually introduced to the client through video conferencing, the time had come to take 848 overseas and meet face to face! The experience was invaluable. By visiting the headquarters of the global organisation, I was able to get a real feel for the business, what was important to them, and what would matter most in the delivery of Business Changing IT.

During my time in the big apple I met with key stakeholders for the Window 10 programme, building strong relationships with people critical to the success of the migration to Windows 10. Which flourished throughout the course of the migration, and has continued now I’m back in the UK.

I’d strongly recommend checking out the food and the scenery NYC has to offer; Central Park is awesome!” – Tim Hayward, Head of Pre Sales.

8. Industry Advancements & Tech Events!

Celebrating technology is at the heart of why what we do is so important, especially when it comes to the Cloud. All of us use it every day- mainly to improve and assist in the things we get up to, be it work, home life, travelling, etc. In fact, 55% of the world’s population is connected online! (Internet World Stats, Dec ‘18).

Every day we are in some way cheering about new; updates, software releases, patent applications, device releases, campaigns, expos, milestones, and start-ups! In such an accelerative, growing world there’s so much to be encouraged by, and excited about!

2019 is set to be a glorious year, we can but hope the weather follows suit!
