What was the project?
Our client was experiencing an increasing number of support tickets from teachers and staff, reporting slow performance of their machines on the sites network. The proposed solution was to investigate the costs for upgrading and replacing all the desktop and laptop machines.
848, on behalf of our partner, were engaged to provide a solution for the requested end-user computing roll-out. This was 848’s first engagement with the client; therefore, a site visit was carried-out to discuss the requirement with the customer in more detail.
As a result of the meeting, it was determined the reported performance issues may not only be because of the end user machines, but a combination of reasons, including the network infrastructure itself.
848’s recommendation was to provide a complete network infrastructure assessment as a pre-curser to determining the most appropriate resolution to the performance issues experienced by the staff.
This engagement included an on-site detailed assessment and review of the entire physical IT estate, including servers, switching equipment and end-user machines as well as the practical application and operational use of the systems in the School.
