This week on The 848 Update we’re excited to be able to share some local news about a life saving new app in development. We’re also amusing ourselves with watching teens react to Windows 95 and casting our own memories back to our first IT contact! Read on for the news stories that have been catching our eye this week.

Hey, maybe it’s cheeky using The 848 Update to plug an offer but, we promise, we have the best of intentions at heart. This week we’ve launched a promotion in partnership with EE, offering 25GB, unlimited minutes and texts plus 180 roaming minutes for just £38 a month. Not only that but we’re also offering the choice of either a free Jabra headset or 5% your first 12 months.

We think this tariff is pretty newsworthy as it really does offer everything you could require from a business mobile plan and is only available till the 7th April. If you’re interested in the complete freedom on offer, get in touch today to speak to an advisor.

Some local tech news now in the form of a new, potentially lifesaving app being developed in North Staffordshire. Keele University’s School of Pharmacy, UHNM and the Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning group are banding together to develop ‘Manage Your Health’, a mobile app designed to help patients suffering with chronic health conditions such as asthma and diabetes.

Available on Android and iPhone, the app uses an avatar to demonstrate effective inhaler use and can answer commonly asked questions about the conditions. Patients who are new to their conditions might find this particularly effective as the app can clear up any uncertainties and provide well-informed help.

Many of us have fond memories of Windows 95. It was the operating system that paved the way for domestic computing and, though I may have only been 2 years old when it was launched, I could probably still give using it a fair go.

Teenagers today barely know a world without WiFi, so when faced with Windows 95 in last Sunday’s Fine Bros reaction video you can imagine how they cope. Oddly enough, it’s almost like looking into the past at when you first got your hands on a PC – can you honestly say you weren’t similarly confused/amazed at the time?

We hope you enjoyed This week’s 848 Update. Visit us again next Friday for more of the latest technology news stories.
