When Apple speaks, the world listens. There are few events which generate as much hype and excitement as the annual Apple showcase. In 2017, I remember standing at the bus stop in the pouring rain, watching a live stream on my phone of Tim Cook, all warm and cozy in the Steve Jobs Theatre telling me how good the iPhone 8 Plus will be. As I scratched around in my pockets for bus fare, I chose to follow his words like a little lamb would follow Mary. I was going to buy the 8 Plus. How do you like them Apples Mary? (So many gags in there)

The point I’m making is that no matter your background or walk of life, Apple has their finger on the button and always knows what the people want. When the time comes for Apple to announce the next wave of products and updates, the world wants to find out what’s in store.

So yesterday, our thirst for technology and gadgets was quenched once again. Apple announced the imminent release of FOUR new products:

  • iPhone Xs
  • iPhone Xs Max
  • iPhone Xr
  • Apple Watch Series 4

Take a bow, Mr. Cook. You’ve done it again.

I’m eager to get my hands on the iPhone Xs Max. I’ve always been fond of a larger screen and the 6.5in Super Retina custom OLED display will no doubt stand and deliver. So in the near future, when I indulge in my favourite pastime of complaining about everything and someone tells me to “look at the bigger picture” I can stop them dead in their tracks and say, “I already am, thanks”.

I know. Genius.

Without going into all the intricate details of the devices announced yesterday, I am certainly looking forward to seeing everything up close and personal. The Series 4 Apple Watch looks fantastic and the new features will be just as good.

A lot of people want to see what Apple has up their sleeve. Most of this comes from a consumer perspective. But what about the business side of things? Most folk won’t ever really have to consider what Apple can do for their working life. But for those who do want to know, keep on reading.

For many job roles, Apple are the obvious choice. But for many, they simply prefer the interface and integration across their devices. The world of business seems to be embracing Apple technologies more than ever. Macs, iPhones and iPads are now widely considered to be the weapon of choice when it comes to working. Sleek, manageable devices that provide a wide range of necessary applications that make it easier and faster to work? What’s not to love?

The flexibility available within most IT infrastructures provides a great opportunity for organisations to utilise Apple products across their workforce. Cross-platform solutions like Office 365 and other cloud-based applications remove a lot of the barriers encountered by users in years gone by. Work from the office, work on the train, work from home, watch something on Netflix when you are finished. All from one or two devices. Simple.

The world of IT has seen massive shifts in the last 10 years. Especially when it comes to how people work and the products they use. Windows operating systems have been more familiar than our own family members. But now we see that changing dramatically. We walk through the office and see iOS across a lot of screens. Windows is now coming to terms with sharing some of its landscape. Come one, come all…

By offering built in security and privacy, as well as regular software updates, BYOD becomes even easier. Much less hassle getting devices cleared for network use. Much more productivity. Working is now instantaneous.

So from this announcement until next year’s, there will plenty to discuss about Apple and it’s product range. In the meantime, let’s check out the new devices and see why the world is and always has been Apple-shaped….
