Before we can even say “cheap, plastic tat” it will be Halloween! The month of scary monsters and even scarier prices because everything is packaged in novelty Halloween wrapping! But that’s neither here nor there. This year, October brings more than witches, goblins and consumer anarchy. It brings the release of updates for Dynamics 365 Business Central!

Business Central is an often-overlooked part of Dynamics 365 yet can be one of the most important tools available to users.

It already hosts an abundance of capabilities for all areas of an organisation. Sales, Customer Service, Finance and more can benefit from using the rich content that Business Central has to offer.

The Business Applications October 2018 release brings significant capabilities to enable you to transform your business. These new services and capabilities become available starting in October 2018. (These release notes describe functionality that may not have been released yet. Delivery timelines and projected functionality may change or may not ship).

  • Enhancements to Dynamics 365 applications include hundreds of new capabilities across Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Portals, Field Service, Project Service, Social Engagement, Finance and Operations, Talent, Retail, and Business Central. Microsoft are also introducing a new set of mixed reality experiences using Microsoft Layout and Microsoft Remote Assist.
  • New intelligence applications employ decades of AI work pioneered by Microsoft Research to make Dynamics 365 more intelligent. You can enhance sales performance and planning with the new Dynamics 365 AI for Sales application.
  • New Power platform capabilities combine Power BI, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, the Common Data Service for Apps, and Power BI dataflows into an unmatched palette of tools to extend, customize, and integrate Dynamics 365 and Office 365 into your environment.
  • Data integration provides built-in connectivity to the Power platform and more, with data across hundreds of business systems, enabling rich and intelligent experiences. The Common Data Model provides consistency for business entities across Dynamics 365, Common Data Service for Apps, and Power BI dataflows, increasing value and saving time for application developers, ISV partners, and integrators.
  • Deeper integrations with other Microsoft products offer seamless experiences with Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Stream, Azure, and LinkedIn. We’ve enhanced Dynamics 365 with data and signal from Office 365 and Bing.
  • Performance, usability, and supportability enhancements improve the applications and underlying platform, and provide a better experience for you to run your businesses.

So, we all understand how important organisation and structure is to a business. From top to bottom, people need to see facts, figures, data and everything else in between. People need to know where they are supposed to be and who they are supposed to be meeting. Dynamics 365 provides the daily organisation that people need and presents everything clearly and accurately. Business Central adds even more by allowing you to manage your financials, automate and secure your supply chain and sell smarter whilst improving customer service.

I have used Dynamics in many different formats over the years and I have often said that it is the best CRM platform I have used in my working life. It has always offered a user-friendly, manageable interface and gives me so many options in how I wish to structure my data and information. Whenever I was presented with an alternative to work with, I would always feel a tinge of sadness that Dynamics had slipped from my fingers and left me with its wicked Step-mother.

All joking aside, I’ve never had any major issues or gripes with other CRM solutions, and some of them are offer great features and benefits. But for me, Dynamics was always the reliable big brother that would have your back and make sure you were taken care of. So it’s great to see how Business Central adds a whole new layer of productivity without diluting the original features of Dynamics 365. It allows users to continue working on the move. It offers users to be more efficient. It provides the opportunity to make big business decisions without delays or obstacles to contend with. Users can see productivity increase like never before.

For those interested in looking at Business Central in further detail, or just want further information on the new updates, you are always welcome to reach out and give me a nudge. 848 can start you off on the right path and we have a whole team of staff ready to help.
